WILQUIN, André // Visitez la Pologne industrielle. (Paris, circa 1935)
Original illustration art. Ink and gouache on thick paper (26 x 20 cm.), with minor edge-wear. Set in relief within acid-free mat; mounted into complementary wooden frame (37 x 30 cm.).
Given the recent tourist craze for post-industrial Polish ruins, Wilquin's poster design here calls forward with some irony, likely dating from the final period of the Second Polish Republic, which attempted to establish a Central Industrial District as a point of productive pride. This maquette descends from the estate of Wilquin, who was granted a retrospective exhibition at Paris' Bibliothèque Forney in 1991 in honour of his diverse advertising oeuvre.
